well, the amount of watts determens how hot the iron will go. soo usually, the more the better... because heat is what straightens... or curls the hair.

the better the wattage the hotter it will get and the better it will straighten thick, coarse or curly hair. it will also melt bleached, damaged or super fine hair.
professionals need the ones that control the temp. with.
try chi it goes up to 450-500 degrees cost like 150-175 dollars its works well or if you want a good brand a little less cheaper go to sallys and they have a iron called titanium tools its like 50 bucks but it goes up to 450 degrees
