Any type of heat styling can damage and dry out hair. Even blow drying can do it, there's no way around that but there are products she can use to prevent and treat breakage or damaged hair. She can use a pre-styling product specifically made for heat styling. most brands you find in the stores offer a heat styling product. She can also make sure she is using a shampoo and conditioner that prevents and treats damaged hair. I would highly recommend using Dove Intense Therapy (dark blue bottles) shampoo and conditioner. This treats damaged hair and prevents it. It also moisturizes your hair without weighing it down. So she can do heat styling, just take care of her hair in other aspects to prevent the damage. My wife just bought a Shiruku Ceramic Hair Iron, Can the heat damage her hair?
Any kind of heat styling -will- damage the hair, there's not really a way to go around it.

You can minimize damaging with products designed to protect the hair - a serum can be applied before ironing to reduce direct contact to the hair (the iron burns the serum instead of the hair, basically).

Some shampoos and conditioners are ';heat-activated'; and claim to work with the hair as it's being heat-styled, further reducing the damaging effects. I don't have any personal experience with these kinds of products, but it might be worth looking into. (I know Tresemme has a line like this)

Getting regular haircuts will also improve the overall health of the hair, getting rid of the dead or split ends will make ironed hair look that much better.
This is very true. Almost any kind of hair iron whether it straightens or curls, will damage your hair. But there are ways to prevent the iron from damaging it so much. She should use protective sprays on her hair before straightening it and that should help some. You can buy it basically anywhere and its not very expensive.
yes, it can damage hair very easily and it is not the best styling product on the market,

what she needs is a rotating curling iron that can circulate the heat all around and use as much time as shee needs.

damaged hair can affect your health also, as burn the foullicule and make a bald spot if she got it close enough to her roots.
no matter how powerful the iron is it can always do damage so thats why its best to protect your hair. i use TRESemme heat tamer protective spray (black bottle, red lid). its in a spray bottle so its easy to use. just sprits and straighted. and deep condition hair once a week in addition but this is not as nescisary. but you should always use the TRESemme before culing, straightening or blow drying
Yep! Any kind of straightner will damage and fry your hair if you don't use protectors. If there is a Sally's hair supply by you, have your wife go there and buy some hair protectors. Or any drugstore would probably carry them too. The worse time to straighten your hair is when you get out of the shower and straighten it while your hair is wet too.
well think about it, she's squishing her hair in between two 140 degree ceramic plates. Of course it's going to fry her hair after a while.

I straighten my hair every day but if you use a protective serum it won't cause as much or any damage.
Of course it damages your hair ! remeber one year i had all these split ends and stuff and i had to chop em off. Well .. if you use them once in a while its not as bad but it deffietly damages your hair if you use it alot and it slows down the growth of your hair .

Good luck, Hope i helped !
anything with heattt liek curling iirons blow dryers heat curlers damages your hairr get a solution to put on your hair before you straighten that way less daage is donee

and the hotter she usesd it on the more danage is being done try to limit the strighteing to onec in ahwhile
