How do you straighten your hair with a cheap straightener/flat iron?

I mean like really good. I know it's possible because this girl has the same straightener and hers looks really good. I think I'm doing something wrong. My straightener is Conair Professional Instant Heat Straightener. I bought it at Wal-Mart for $15.How do you straighten your hair with a cheap straightener/flat iron?
work in sections. divide you hair into sections, clip them, and straighten one at a time.

EDIT: hmmm then try misting hairspray on your hair. use a shampoo and conditioner for straightening hair. theres alot of products (serums, creams, etc.) that help with straightening. also, dont straighten your hair when it is humid out, humidity frizzes hair and makes it wavy. How do you straighten your hair with a cheap straightener/flat iron?
What i usually do is a split my hair up into sections,

first i split my hair down the middle and put one side in a pigtail the the other side i tie half up and straighten the loose part. Then split the tied up part in half and straighten.

Then do the same with the other side.

Also when u straighten your hair use a wide tooth comb. It really helps. Just follow the iron with the comb. It will keep you from burning you neck.
It really depends on your hair but with me i only straighten the ends. It means i concentrate more on them.
do it in small sections

and repeat til it gets all straight
Use one of the following products:

-Tresemme Heat Protect Spray

- John Frieda Straight Answer Spray

BUT before you use those try a striaghtening shampoo/conditioner pair in the shower like:

-Garnier Fructis Sleek and shine

-John Frieda Straight Answer

-Tresemme Smooth and Silky

- Sunsilk Straighten Out

And most importantly blow dry your hair with a paddle brush with a good technique and your hair will probably not need much straightening at all, unless its naturally very curly/wavy.

But bottom line is you should buy a better straightener in the long run if you use it often or your hair will suffer. I don't mean you have to pay $100+ but you can get a nice quality one under 50.
