I'm a professional stylist - and own my own high end salon. I say check out Sally Beauty Supply - they sell some professional tools for a reasonable price - you should be able to get a decent ceramic/ionic flat iron for about $30-$40. Or as someone else suggested - eBay - check out CHI, Hot Tools, T3, Infrashine, etc. Stay away from ConAir, or anything you can buy at Wal-Mart, Target, etc. You want one that get AT LEAST 400 degrees Farenheit (aka US temps)- the hotter it gets the less time you'll have to make a pass thru the hair. Keep in mind that the hotter it is you'll need to be careful to let the iron sit on any hair too long or you'll burn it Hope that helps!
Mine are Vidal Sasoon from Argos 拢25 and are really good, instant heat too
man is a girl

and yes they are as good
any ceramic straightener which as a maximum temperature more than 190. My hair stylist told me ages ago that it isn't the make/model of the straighteners that give you the quality finish, it is the temperature. it is also important to get ceramic because they do not damage your hair like metal ones do. they are more gentle and give a glossy finish. she also told me that high temp straighteners cannot be brought from shops like boots etc, they can only be brought from stylist shops. i don't know if that would still apply because that was a while ago. you might be able to find some on ebay. remember, just make sure the maximum temperature is higher than 190.
My daughter had some ghd ones and I bought the tesco value ones. We both agreed that there was no difference. She has thick wavy hair, I have fine hair. They're less than 拢10 so give them a try. They heat up really quickly too.
Get Chi hair straightner or a product for Revlon Ceramic Straightner
Babyliss Thermaglass hair straighteners use ultra smooth glass plates and come with their own heat stand.

They have also been reduced in price by about 40% making them a steal at 拢39.99.
