Is it possible to remove brown stains from ceramic straighteners?

It must be the residue from the heat protection spray and perhaps mousse, i just can't get it off from either of the plates. And i think it's affecting the results, my hair just flairs out and it takes a higher heat setting to get the hair properly straight. Or i could be imagining things, but i would still like to get those stains off.

I've tried rubbing them with makeup removal pads, alcohol and a warm cloth and nothing's come off!

Thanks in advance for any advice! Is it possible to remove brown stains from ceramic straighteners?
You need to heat the iron then unplug it ...Then use Isopropal on a thick cloth preferably an old towel. Is it possible to remove brown stains from ceramic straighteners?

try heating your straightner first, then turning it off and cleaning it so that the residue isnt so stuck on,
