What's the difference between the cheap straighteners and the expensive ones?

Besides how much they cost.

Oh and also - people say you have to use heat protection spray etc. and not over-use your straighteners, but I don't use anything to protect against the heat and I straighten my hair once a day (somethings twice) 6-7 days a week yet I have noticed any heat damage?

What exactly is heat damage?

Do I just have special god-like hair which is invulnerable to heat? What's the difference between the cheap straighteners and the expensive ones?
Your hair probably will get dry, frizzy and damage later on. Just not right now. And not using heat protection, your just frying your hair and stuff.

And the difference between them is that most cheap straighteners that you get at walmart or something probably don't work as good as the expensive ones. And the cheap ones will probably last 5-7 months or less and like the expensive ones last longer about 2 years or more.

But i personally think that any straightener is fine, as long it has a ceramic plate on it and its good and it'll work.

And seriously, you should use a heat protection in your hair. What's the difference between the cheap straighteners and the expensive ones?
Theres the health of your hair to consider. Cheaper ones get just as hot, but they burn your hair.

More expensive ones are easier on the cuticle of your hair, leaving it softer and shinier.

go to somewhere like sallys or Ulta and look, there are some that are better that arent that much more, or ask your hair stylist.
Well, the more expensive straighteners will probably also be the ones that are higher quality. This is not always the case so you might want to look compare the two straighteners. You could try reading online reviews about them and figuring out which one is best for you that way. Heat damage is when your hair gets dead looking from all the heat, it looks damaged basically. It's great that your hair isn't get damaged from all that heat! Maybe you use a type of shampoo that protects it from this kind of damage.
A cheap straightener will burn your hair more and may not make it as straight as an expensive one will. ALWAYS use a heat protection! It takes 5 seconds to put on but helps soooooo much! Heat damage is when you're hair is really dry and you have a lot of split ends. also your hair gets a rough feeling so it isn't smooth and soft
some people do get heat damage others (like me) do not. a cheap straighteners will maybe last 9-10 months and a expensive one will last a year or two. the cheap ones also may make your hair static-y or might not work as well.
quality.. and heat damage.. is where your hair starts looking really dull and feels rough and isn't meeting its true potential. (not really sure how to explain it lol:)
