What is the best kind of flat iron for hair? Be specific on the brand. Why?

The sedu. rated # 1 on folica.com. I own both the sedu and teh chi, but the sedu is worlds better. Conair is crap for your hair. Spend $118 on the Sedu and you won't regret it. look at the pics on the website below. What is the best kind of flat iron for hair? Be specific on the brand. Why?
CHI, it has lasted longer than any other and I have owned alot of the cheapo ones, like Conair. What is the best kind of flat iron for hair? Be specific on the brand. Why?
CHI brands rule. They are expensive though, but that is what my stylists (and many others) use and recommend. I think it works so well because it gets hot quickly and stays evenly hot all across the iron. This way you don't have to run your hair through the iron so many times which damages your hair. When I get my hair straightened with CHI (and I have thick, wavy, long hair), it stays smooth, shiny and silky straight for days.
Chi straighteners are very great for use on any kind of hair. They are on the more expensive end of things, but they come with a year garantee, and they will last you a very long time. One of the things that contributes to making the CHI such a great iron, is the ceramic plates. The ceramic helps protect your hair from the intense heat, and help to distribute evenly.

One other thing you should remember....is that there really isn't a styling tool that is 'GOOD' for your hair. The constant heat, pulling, washing, coloring ect. is very bad on your ha ir, so I suggest using high quality products to protect your locks. There is a product that works great to protect your hair from the heat of the blowdryer/iron. It is called bumble and bumble styling lotion. It is a spray bottle that you apply to damp hair to protect from the amount of heat that the blowdryer and straightner. This is a great product, and I love it, although I'm sure you can find ones that work just as good.

What it all means.....

Ceramic Plates

Metal plates can be fine for your hair but ceramic plates are microscopically smoother and kinder to your hair. They can be heated quicker and the temperature can be maintained more accurately. Ceramic also prevent un controlled rises in temperature and allow for even heat distribution.

Ion Technology

Ion technology generates are field of negativley charged particles which break apart water molecules into smaller ones. These smaller particles can be absorbed more easily by the hair leaving the hair moister and less brittle. If when using a hair straightener you find that your hair is dryer and/or more brittle then using ion technology should greatly improve the condition of your hair.

Ion technology produces:

Improved hair condition

Softer and shinier hair

More moisture in the hair making it less flyaway

Faster drying making a better longer lasting effect with less time spent by you.

Infra Red Technology

The infra red technology seals the moisture in the hair preventing drying out due to the heat from the appliance.

Infra Red Technology produces

No loss of hairs condition

Rapid Heat

Rapid heat like the name suggests means that the straightenr will heat up faster and therefore use less electricity. This also preserves the life of the appliance. Rapid heat can half the total time it takes to straighten your hair. You can also turn the aplliance off between sections, to save electricity, confident that the aplliance will re-heat in seconds.

Adjustable Temperaure Control

If you find that the temperature of the iron is too cold or hot for your hair then an adjustable temperature is essential to control the irons heat. If your iron is too cool for your hair then its results will be less effective and last shorter. If the iron is too hot for your hair then it will dry the hair and the condition of your hair will deteriorate.

Automatic Sensor Control

As with the adjustable temperature control except the temperature is set automaticlly by sensors in the iron.

Switchable Temperature

The Dana Italia straightener has two fixed temperature settings chosen by a switch on the appliance. Better than no choice but not very flexible

Voltage

Most electrical appliances will work on 120V since the heat of the plates is controlled by thermostat. The only problem is that some of the appliances will take longer to reach their operating temperatures at lower voltages.

We personally tested all appliances at 120V and all appliances reached their operating temperatures.

Plate Size:

The size of the plate determines how much hair can be treated in any one pass of the iron. Larger plates means a quicker action can be used decreasing the time needed to perform the straightening
CHI's are really good straighteners. They cost over $100, though. If you don't want to spend that much, get Conair. It's a true hair care brand from brushes, to blow dryers, to scrunchies. I have a Conair straightener that can even work on wet hair. I LOVE IT, and it's effective, too. Good luck!
A Chi Straightener is the best but it can be expensive. I have one and so does my mom because they dont damage your hair as much as other straighteners do and they do a really really great job of getting your hair super straight or any way you'd want it (like if you'd wana use the straightener to curl the ends it does that too)

This is the Chi website....good luck!
