How do I clean a ceramic straightener that has like cloth over the plates?

My straightener has cloth over the plates so product gets built up pretty fast. I have tried using a damp paper towel but it didn't work...any other ways?How do I clean a ceramic straightener that has like cloth over the plates?
go to a beauty shop like sally beauty or somewhere like that. they sell flat iron/curling iron cleaner it use it it strong smelling but it kills germs and gets all the dirt and hair Spray and all the Gross stuff off and you will see a big different in your hair after you clean it! and just spray it on your iron and wipe it with a clean dry wash cloth.
